Whilst not a premier crag, Rake's Rocks has enough worthy routes to merit a visit on the way back from Laddow. The crag consists of two tiers, the upper one not very appealing, with the exception of one sound buttress. The Lower Tier is home to a handful of good routes on three solid compact and tower-like buttresses.
The rock is mainly sound, compact rock divided by dank vegetated chimneys. It can be slow to dry and damp underfoot after bad weather.
Follow the approach as for Laddow, until you are near the top of Oaken Clough. Where you go right for Laddow, head left along a plateaued path. From that point, it's an easy 10 mins or less.
