A popular crag despite seasonal bird restrictions, offering classic Frankenjura climbing in the middle grades on solid steep limestone. North-facing buttresses make this shady crag ideal on hotter days. Can get very busy in peak season despite the walk-in. NB: 1 star on UKC equates to 1 strawberry in the Franken guidebook!
From the parking lot at the sports field, back a few meters along the road and on the opposite side follow a field path to the edge of the forest. Keep left here until you come to a wider forest path. Follow the forest path to the right - always staying on the main path - for about 550 meters until it touches a meadow in a depression on the right. Here, a few meters after the beginning of the meadow, an overgrown path branches off to the left, which immediately forks. Follow the left of the forest paths. This narrows to a path and leads (keeping left at the end) after 500m to the left part of the Heinrichsgrotte.
Approach time: 18–20 min.
Bird restriction – no climbing from 01 Feb – 1 Jul.
