Ferndale quarry is located high above the valley that heads north from Porth. The crag has some reasonable faces that are well bolted, in pleasant surroundings and with an open outlook. The climbing is worthwhile, if little travelled. Ferndale faces east and gets the morning sun whilst across the valley Blaenllechau is west facing and picks up plenty of sun later in the day - combining a visit to both crags is easy.
Super minor crag. Even considering it is deep in the valleys I'm surprised it's not more popular. Some older bolts but many lines have new bolts or staples. Easy approach up the main path until the fence and then left, over a stile, and you can walk the length of the quarry. simoncov - 09/Apr/23 |
