This partially quarried edge has until recently been neglected because of access. The CRoW Act now allows exploration and some excellent routes have been uncovered (and re-discovered). The edge comprises numerous buttresses stretching for over 600m, characterised by sharp edges, sloping breaks and top-outs with steep and often overhanging faces. There are just under 50 routes here with a number of boulder problems scattered amongst them.
The rock gets the afternoon sun with some of the bays becoming sun-traps later in the day. Some routes are often green, so it's best to climb there after a while of dry weather.
Park in the layby at the summit of Monks road and walk down the road approx 75m. Pass through a gate followed by a pleasant amble across the field to a stile. Bear left and the first buttress is some 150m away.
