This impressive squat rock overlooks the A6 just south of Cromford, or rather it would if it wasn't nestled deep within an old wood. It is composed of a good quality, fine-grained grit; more akin to Cratcliffe than to its nearby neighbour Black Rocks, sharing some of the former's trademark features.
It is surprisingly clean and relatively quick-drying considering the forested setting and the north-easterly aspect. It can be a good bet on windy days.
From Black Rocks follow the High Peak Trail east until it passes over a path at a bridge. Head right (uphill) along the path. A quicker approach is to follow Intake Lane out of Cromford to it's end then walk a few hundred yards up a track to the crag.
Cleaned Nylon Stocking today (29/7/14). Good route - worth calling in for steveb2006 - 29/Jul/14 |
